Annie Draeger

Dr. Annie Draeger is an applied education researcher focused on how schools and districts build the organizational capacity to support educators and sustain effective practices. At CSAW and Cultivate, her work centers on strengthening rural schools’ capacity to provide meaningful, accessible professional learning and ongoing support for paraprofessionals and educational assistants. She leads research and evaluation examining district readiness, organizational conditions, implementation, and sustainability, and develops tools and professional learning models designed to help districts strengthen their paraeducator workforce.

Dr. Draeger’s work is grounded in a broader interest in what helps evidence-based practices move from research into sustainable practice. Her doctoral research examined the sustainment of evidence-based attendance practices for students with disabilities, and she now applies this perspective to understanding the organizational conditions that shape educator learning and implementation. She uses mixed-methods research, qualitative inquiry, and program evaluation to connect the experiences of educators and schools with practical strategies for building capacity and sustaining change.

Outside of work, Annie enjoys spending time hiking, camping, and exploring the coast with her husband, their two active boys, and their fluffy rescue dog.
